You're scored on two metrics: Time (how fast you solve it) and Letters Chosen (how few guesses you need). Both have separate leaderboards.
You have 5 minutes to complete the puzzle. Finish within the limit and your score is saved to the leaderboard. Go over and you can still play — but no ranking for that round.
